AIGAC Call for Nominations
Join the AIGAC Board!
Looking to build our industry, gain experience on a Board of Directors or add “Non-Profit Leadership” to your LinkedIn profile? AIGAC is seeking nominations for board directors, and you are allowed, even encouraged, to nominate yourself if you’re interested.
We solicit nominations for Board of Director candidates to run for three seats that commence August 1, each for a three-year term. The minimum qualifications and criteria for nominating and selecting candidates are:
Minimum Qualifications: Director Nominees
- AIGAC Business Organization member in good standing (only one representative per company may serve on the board at a time).
- At least three years of experience as an admissions consultant.
- At least six months of participation on an AIGAC committee in the past 36 months.

Nominating Guidelines and Procedures
Directors and voting members of AIGAC may nominate themselves or another qualified member as prospective candidates to run for the Board as described below in #2
To nominate someone else, please complete this nomination form by March 31
Those who are nominating themselves or who have been nominated and wish to run for the board position must submit a candidate statement by April 15 (or submitted shortly thereafter by nominees who are nominated by another member).
- Why are you interested in serving on the AIGAC Board of Directors?
- What specific qualifications, skills, or experience would you contribute to the Board?
- What do you hope to get out of serving on the Board?
- What experience, if any, do you have serving on similar Boards of Directors?
- What level of time commitment can you make to the Board?

Please note: only one person per company or consultancy may serve on the AIGAC Board of Directors at any given time.
The first step towards a board position is to volunteer for one of our committees, or even to suggest a new one if you have great plans or ideas that don’t quite fit into our current structure. If you are interested in volunteering please let us know at volunteer@aigac.org, we are always looking to build our committees.
Come learn the ropes in a friendly, collegial environment and help shape the future of AIGAC and the admissions consulting industry. As our current and past board members can attest, contributing to our board adds skills to your repertoire and opens doors even after board membership has ended. And we have a lot of fun together!
Service Commitment
In joining the board, you would be making the following service commitment. Serving as a Board Member of AIGAC involves a very special commitment. To meet that commitment, Board Members are expected to:
- Ensure adherence to AIGAC’s Principles of Good Practice for AIGAC Members (http://aigac.org/about/principles/) and abide by the AIGAC Bylaws.
- Attend and actively participate in all of the Board’s meetings, Conference sessions and other functions, and notify the Executive Director or Board President of anticipated absence.
- When absent from a meeting, review minutes and results of the missed meeting to maintain awareness of issues and solutions.
- Do the homework and research necessary to be prepared to participate fully in
- Board and Committee meetings: be prepared to vote on all issue motions unless a conflict of interest exists and is stated according to Board policy.
- Serve actively on at least one Committee.
- Act only with the full Board, not individually, unless authorized to do so by the full Board.
- Speak for the full Board only when the full Board sanctions their doing so.
In addition, we seek individual Board Members who:
- Are team builders who seeks board, committee head and member input and listens well.
- Believe transparency is a must.
- Can work effectively with the Board, Committees, and Members.
- Are genuine, inspiring communicator who talk persuasively about the mission and values of the organization.
- Set a tone of celebration of organizational progress, appreciates contributions of old and new members from big and small firms, and is visible and engaged.
- Avoid piling on new initiatives before current ones can be consolidated.
- Are high-energy, committed to connecting with the global AIGAC community.
- Are excellent at recruiting and retaining inspiring members and industry leaders.
- Are steady and has a sense of humor that would help the organization through difficult times when they occur.
