AIGAC President, 2017-2018
Welcome, welcome, welcome to your new AIGAC board members!
As I step into the role of AIGAC president, I’m so pleased to introduce to all of you, our new board! We have some new faces, as well as some old.
Let’s all welcome Nupur Gupta and Maria Wich-Vila! Nupur has been instrumental in bringing our most recent conference to fruition. Her dedication to creating a deeply considered program for our All School’s Day was visible and this year we’re lucky to have her step into a role as the conference co-chair where she will undoubtedly bring that same level of dedication to the entire conference. And, speaking of “new faces” Maria has been instrumental this past year in driving the new face of AIGAC…our modernized website! As chair of the communications committee she’ll continue to envision the public face of AIGAC.
Scott continues on in his role as our organizational Secretary. This past year his survey team—including Barbara Coward, Scott Edinburgh, Stephen Round and Andrea Sparrey—clearly elevated their work to a new level. Many of us reaped the benefits of the team’s work as they shared the findings of this year’s survey. But well beyond the conference the team has, for the first time, engaged the schools and they’re engrossed in providing the schools with school-specific findings from our survey. Thanks to the team and to all of you who helped get the word out to your mailing lists when it came time to encouraging survey participation. In Scott’s “free” time, he also chairs our Membership committee.
Those of you who have attended our most recent conferences will of course know Rachel Korn, who valiantly chaired our conference this year. We’re so lucky to have her back in the role, co-chairing our 2018 conference. Rachel brings international perspective and effervescence to her work with us.
And of course, there’s Andrea Sparrey. Andrea is forever pushing us forward, engaging all members in practical and prioritized discussions to ensure we’re working in a meaningful manner, designed to succeed in the long-term. What you might not also see from the outside is her incredible dedication to mentoring both new and existing board members so we grow in leading the organization. We’re lucky to have her input on all board considerations.
I am deeply indebted to Vince Ricci, our outgoing president who has fearlessly led our organization this year.
Thankfully, as the immediate past-president he’ll be presiding over our Governance Committee and remaining active on our board. Alongside, the AIGAC Founders and Board, we all wish to extend our deepest appreciation to Vince for everything that he’s done to raise our organizational performance level. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Vince!
Throughout August our committees will be actively working to define their goals for the year, critically focused on driving towards meeting the demands outlined in our new mission. We’ll be highlighting more about our new mission in the next newsletter but look forward to a successful year together!
